Davy Crockett Birthplace State Park
Davy Crockett Birhtplace State Park
The legendary Tennessean David Crockett was born near the community of Limestone, TN in 1786. The Crockett family have strong ties to this region. David's grandparents settled in the area of Rogersville, TN and are buried near where they were killed in a conflict with Native Americans in Roger's Cemetery. Morristown has a replica of David Crockett's Father's Tavern.
Crockett was a man who wore many hats, though he was probably best known for the coon skin cap in particular, as well as his skill with a rifle. He did not stay in East Tennessee and later famously died at the Alamo, but not before becoming a Congressman and reputed frontiersman.
Davy Crockett Birthplace State Park commemorates Davy Crockett's birth place. The 105 acre park is on the banks of the Nolichucky River. A short trail does follow the riverside and it is well worth the walk but Davy Crockett Birthplace State Park does not really have any trails of length to speak of.
What Davy Crockett Birthplace does have is a great campground with 88 sites. The majority of these sites are for RV camping with most having full hook-up capability. Besides the replica cabin and visitor center, the park has a playground, picnic pavilions, and a swimming pool. The park is also close driving distance to great hiking spots like Horse Creek and Clarks Creek. Fishing is also a possibility along the Nolichucky River. The park is an awesome borderland environment with pretty views of nearby farmland and pastures. The opportunity for wildlife viewing is pretty good. Further details on the park is linked below.
